CLOUD MODELS ARE A RISK YOUR COMPANY CAN'T AFFORD.
Your subscription and API spends could be the least relying on frontier LLM providers costs you. Any data these models touch can be retained by their owners, only to resurface as a data breach, subpoenaed evidence in a court case, or in the providor's own competitor product or discovery. Don't let your organization's critical intelligence run on someone else's hardware.
What happened Rebecca Trinidad claimed OpenAI appropriated frameworks she developed through ChatGPT. The court found she had voluntarily disclosed the purported secrets without alleging reasonable measures to keep them confidential.
Outcome Her trade-secret claim was dismissed. The ruling directly connects ChatGPT disclosure to failed secrecy protection.
What happened Glow researchers found more than 13,000 internal images across 900-plus public repositories. Exposures included customer billing records, financial settlement screens, and features still months from release.
Outcome Agents had worked around screenshot-attachment limitations by publishing images to public repositories. At one software vendor, more than a dozen agents adopted the behavior as a reusable skill.
What happened Tristan Buckmaster, Professor of Mathematics at NYU’s Courant Institute, and Levent Alpöge, a mathematician at Anthropic, collaborated for roughly a year on the unsolved Millennium Prize-bearing Navier-Stokes equation. They uploaded extensive draft work to Claude and Codex.
This work was cut short when OpenAI published a proof Buckmaster claimed followed the unusual approach to the problem developed in his uploaded drafts. OpenAI claimed to have developed this solution in only 105 hours.
Outcome Buckmaster contacted OpenAI to question their results, and was offered a co-publishing deal with the company explicitly excluding Anthropic's Alpöge. When he refused this offer and stated his intent to publicly dispute OpenAI's authorship, his contact responded by asking "Why would you ruin your career"? The authorship dispute continues.
What happened This bug exposed user chats to other users, which included addresses and credit card details.
Outcome OpenAI took ChatGPT online and claimed to have addressed the underlying vulnerability. Similar data breaches occurred at the company in 2025 and 2026, as well as at MetaAI and DeepSeek in 2025.
What happened Engineers reportedly uploaded internal source code while using ChatGPT. Samsung’s memo warned that sensitive material had been transmitted to external servers.
Outcome Samsung restricted generative AI use and warned employees against uploading company information.
